A MAN, hailing from Haslington New Housing Scheme on the East Coast Demerara appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to answer a charge of damage to property and simple larceny.
It is alleged that on Sunday last, at Foulis, Andre Anthony Gonsalves unlawfully and maliciously damaged a car door and stole $9,000 cash from the vehicle, property of Hemsham Sukhram. Gonsalves questioned the probability of someone leaving valuables in an unsecured vehicle to attend a wedding ceremony. Nonetheless the magistrate entered a not guilty plea and subsequently granted the seaman $10,000 bail on each charge. Gonsalves will return to court on October 3. |
