Kadaafi Pritipaul, 21, of Lot 441 Section ‘B’ Block ‘X’ Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday slapped with a simple larceny charge.
He appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and was not required to plea to the indictable charge, which stated that on August 12 at King Street, Georgetown, he stole one AT motor car valued $3.5M among other items totaling $4.3M property of Monty Allen. Attorney-at-law, Mr. Trenton Lake represented the accused and requested bail for his client. He said his client never had any trouble with the law. The lawyer asked that the magistrate view the charge with suspicion and to note the inflated sum for the articles. Police Inspector, Burgett Grant, prosecuting had no objection to bail. The defendant was placed on $350,000 bail and the matter will be called again on September 27. |
