ZODZO Lambert, 22, of Lot 63 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday, charged with using abusive language towards his wife and unlawfully assaulting her.
He pleaded not guilty to the offences, which said they were both committed, on July 14, when he abused and assaulted Candace Lambert. Defence Counsel James Bond requested reasonable bail, stating that the defendant is a seaman who is away from home most times and the virtual complainant was having and affair. The lawyer admitted that the husband did use words to his wife but maintained they were not abusive. Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, had no objection to the grant but requested that a condition be attached. The defendant informed the Court that he will remove from the matrimonial home and stay with his father and he was ordered to post $15,000 surety until his next appearance on July 23. |
