MAGISTRATE Sherdel Issacs-Marcus, on Tuesday, fined 35-year-old taxi driver Deokaran Vissoon of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo $7,500 for driving his vehicle along the Windsor Forest public road, West Coast Demerara, while under the influence.
Court documents indicate that the police stopped and invited Vissoon to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station to undergo a breathalyser test, which revealed that he had in his system more alcohol than the prescribed limit. Vissoon admitted to the magistrate that he had consumed alcoholic beverages at his father’s home in Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara. |
