By Savitri Laikram RAYNEL Caesar and Jewel Anthony appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, on Tuesday, to answer charges that they had verbally abused each other on June 29 at Cross Street, Georgetown. They each pleaded guilty to the charge, were allowed to explain to the court how the incident came about, and came up with basically the same story as police prosecutor Inspector Simone Payne, who explained that Caesar was on her way to visit a relative when she saw Anthony and accused her of insulting one of her cousins. The two had a confrontation in which they exchanged abusive words. The women were both cautioned about their behaviour, and were each fined $15,000 with the alternative of seven days’ imprisonment. |
