Police fish decomposing body from La Grange koker PDF Print E-mail

LATE yesterday, police fished out the partly decomposed body of a man discovered in the La Grange koker, West Bank Demerara. The corpse was that of an East Indian man of medium build, presumably in his mid-40s, and wearing a black boxer trunks with what appeared to be a grey jersey.
From all appearances, this body was in the water for more than 24 hours, as the skin had already begun to peel.
Meanwhile, relatives of 67-year-old Gerald Fraser, the cook on the ill-fated cargo vessel “Mellisa”, which went down in the Demerara River on Friday, hurried down to the La Grange Police Station to make enquiries on learning that a body had been found in the La Grange koker.
They were taken to the spot by police, where they verified that the body found was not that of their relative.
The body was later taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, West Bank Demerara, where it is waiting to be identified.
