Another Police witness cross-examined at PI THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge against the man charged with murdering Shewraney Doobay, wife of prominent physician, Dr. Ramsundar Doobay, resumed yesterday. Defence Counsel, Vic Puran further cross-examined Detective Superintendent of Police, Marlon Chapman, before the proceedings were adjourned to May 21. At the continuation then, Detective Superintendent of Police, Joel David will be subjected to further cross-examination. Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton is conducting the proceedings and Deputy Police Superintendant, Fazil Karimbaksh is prosecuting. Shakir Mohamed, of Lot 127 Latchuni Street, Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, is now the lone accused in the dock. Mark Singh, nephew of the 58-year-old victim, who was also charged with the murder, has since died in prison, having succumbed to asthma. The woman was murdered on May 24, 2011, in her Echilibar Villas, Campbellville, Georgetown home, where her bloodied body was found in the kitchen. |
