Jury sworn for rape, robbery trial A MIXED jury was sworn before Justice Franklyn Holder at the Demerara Assizes yesterday, for the trial of Akeem Alexander alias ‘Mad man’ on an indictment for rape and robbery. The accused, who is unrepresented by counsel, has pleaded not guilty. He is indicted for having on November 15, 2009, robbed a young woman of $1,100 and raped her. State Counsel, Zamilla Ally and Dianne Kaulesar are prosecuting in the case which continues today. |
