Elderly watchman bludgeoned to death at chicken farm
--several suspects held
THE body of a 71-year-old watchman was found with marks of violence, while his 43-year-old colleague Odan Singh, was discovered bound, aback Fung  A Fat  Poulty  Farm, at  Don Robin  Farm, Corentyne shortly after 06:45hrs on Monday. Dead is Karamchand Pamcho, of Lot 241 Nigg Settlement, another Corentyne location, in Berbice who was reportedly bludgeoned to death at his place of work as several bandits invaded the chicken farm where he was employed.
Reports are that, at about 07:15hrs yesterday, the man’s employer arrived at the farm and found the elderly security guard in a pool of blood, with his head bashed in.
The chicken farm owner reported that two men were on duty on Sunday night, but the other guard was tied up and placed in a pig pen on the farm, after which the group of men, who descended on the farm shortly after midnight, took away his colleague.
Pamcho was taken away after he had reportedly told the men that he recognized them, and he was beaten to death before the men escaped without removing anything from the farm.
Pamcho’s daughter Bibi told the Chronicle she was informed of her father’s demise shortly after 07:00hrs yesterday and, on travelling to the scene, saw her father lying by the side of a chicken pen, dressed as he had left home hours before.
Pamcho, a father of five, had previously worked at the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) as a foreman, but left the job many years ago. He also worked with the Guyana Water Incorporated, prior to taking up the current job, six years ago.
Reports reveal that shortly after  14:00hrs on May 13, the watchman  employed by Ronicka Karan,  an overseas-based Guyanese, along with Singh, of Albion, Corentyne had resumed duty and were each expected to attend to the chicken and pig pens, with the dead man supervising the pig pens.
Reports reveal that, at about 20:15hrs Sunday night, Singh went to turn off the water pump, found in the vicinity of one of the chicken pens when a light was observed to be coming towards him, and believing that it was his fellow watchman, he waited but later noticed that it was the now deceased in company with three identifiable persons, who were armed with sticks and a cutlass.
Singh, after being questioned on whether he knew the intruders, responded negatively, while Pamcho, interjecting, reportedly replied in the affirmative.
Singh was thereafter relieved of a cellular  phone and a watch, before being inflicted with several lashes about his body, prior to being taken to an area some two hundred yards away where he was stripped of his clothes and tied to the wall of a pig pen with a polythene rope, before being left behind.
On Monday morning, three labourers attached to the farm had gone to work on the farm when they observed the lifeless remains of the elderly man, dressed in a dark blue and white stripe shirt, black pants and black long boots.
The body was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted shortly.
Police have arrested several suspects.

DANGEROUS TREND
Last Saturday morning, the body of Rudolph Narine, 60, of Logwood, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, another elderly security guard, was found dead at his place of employment, at about 06:30hrs.
The body was found with injuries to the head, throat slit, mouth gagged and feet tied, lying at the entrance to a grocery store at Logwood, where he worked as a watchman. The store had been broken into and articles were stolen.
