| Remanded on half gramme cocaine possession charge |

A MAN was remanded to prison yesterday, on a charge of being in possession of half a gramme of cocaine, because he could not provide the court with a fixed place of abode.
Gordon Allen appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said he had the narcotic on April 20. Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said ranks on patrol saw the defendant acting in a suspicious manner and stopped him. The prosecutor said a search of Allen’s person yielded the illegal substance. The defendant was refused bail after he said he lives on the streets and the case was postponed to May 2. |
