| Robbery-under-arms accused remanded until May 25 |

MUNESHWAR Gangaram appeared before Sparendaam Magistrate, Alex Moore yesterday to answer a charge of robbery-under-arms.
Particulars of the case state that on December 18, at Triumph, East Coast Demerara, while being armed with a knife, Gangaram robbed Doodnauth Deonan of a motorcar and cash among other personal items totaling $1,637,000. Gangaram was unable to enter a plea to the indictable charge on the first occasion that it was read to him. However, after a successful application of the Administration of Justice Act by the prosecutor, Police Sergeant Bernard Browne, Gangaram was able to enter a plea of not guilty. He was remanded to prison, and the matter was set for hearing on May 25. |
