Man held with illegal gun after reported threat JAINANDAN Sukdeo (no address given) was remanded to prison, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, yesterday, on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on April 23, at Morawhanna, North West District, he had a 12-gauge shotgun without being the holder of a licence. Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, disclosed that the arrest was made, based on a report by a female, who reported that she had been threatened with a gun and the man was held in a boat, where the firearm was in a tool box. The Prosecutor successfully objected to bail on the ground that no special reasons were advanced. The defendant admitted that the gun was found on a boat in which he was but denied he was in possession of it. The case will be called, again, on May 22. |
